Police Certificate

The Embassy processes the Police Clearance requests for (I) Afghan nationals who live in Canada and (II) Foreign nationals who live in Canada and worked/lived in Afghanistan.

I. Afghan Nationals
All Afghan nationals should read the following information and instructions carefully:

1. Appointment: is required. 
2. Visit In-person. All individuals requiring police certificate for him/her self or picking up for a family member must visit the Embassy on the appointment date and time. 
3. Required Documents:
• a) Request letter. an Afghan applicant should write a request letter in ENGLISH addressed to this Embassy and outline (a) the services needed; (b) personal details (name, father’s name, date and place of birth); (c) current address; and (d) contact number.
• b) Application Form. An Afghan applicant should complete the FORM in English and Dari/Pashto.
• c) Fingerprints. All fingers print should be taken in the designated form. Finger prints should be taken by a police station/department. Download fingerprints FORM.
• d) Passport Copy (Afghan, Canadian passports).
• e) Tazkira Copy. An Afghan applicant should submit a copy of his/her Tazkira. If the applicant does not have a Tazkira, she/he should include a Tazkira copy of his/her parental relatives such as father, grandfather, siblings, uncles (father’s brothers), aunts (father’s sisters) and cousins of father’s side.

• f) Proof of Address in Canada: An applicant must bring a a proof of address that may be a copy of either his/her driver license, utility bill or bank statement in the postal package.
Express/Registered self-addressed envelope. An Express/Registered self-addressed return envelope MUST be included in the postal package. Without this, the Embassy will NOT be able to send you back the results.
g) Please provide tow photos,  2x2 size.

• 4. Fee. Embassy will charge a none-refundable 55 USD per application. Payments can only be made to the Embassy account. Please DO NOT send cash by post or DO NOT bring cash in-person to the Embassy. The Embassy does NOT accept cash or cheque under any circumstances.

• 5. Procedure. Please note that this is a time-consuming process and requires the engagement of multiple agencies.
   a) Once the Embassy got your application, it will be processed within 2 business days provided that the required documents are complete and sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA).
   b) The MoFA sends the documents to other relevant authorities for processing.
   c) The MoFA shares the results with the Embassy after receiving a response from relevant authorities.
   d) After the Embassy receives the Police Clearance results from MoFA, a Police Clearance Certificate will be issued by the Embassy and will be sent to the applicant by post (It is extremely important for ALL applicants to include an Express/Registered self-addressed envelope in the initial postal package and send it to the Embassy).

II. Foreign Nationals:

All foreign nationals (Canada) should read the following information and instructions carefully:

The Embassy is not liable for any documents which are damaged or lost in transit, it is recommended that you send your mail via ‘registered post’. If you live in Canada, please include an extra envelope for the return of your documents, however if you live outside of Canada, please organise a courier for the collection of your documents.

  • 1. Appointment. Applicants MUST book an appointment online prior to coming to the Embassy. Clients with no prior appointment will not be served. For booking an
        appointment please follow the link at the bottom of the page.
    2. Visit In-person. An applicant MUST visit the Embassy in-person for an interview on the date and time of his/her confirmed appointment and have the required documents ready.
    3. Required Documents:
    • a) Request letter. An applicant should write a request letter in ENGLISH addressed to this Embassy and outline (a) the services needed; (b) personal details (name, father’s name, date and place of birth); (c) current address; (d) the organization and place that has worked in Afghanistan and (e) contact number.
    • b) Application Form. A foreign applicant should complete this FORM in BLOCK letters.
    • c) Fingerprints. Applicant must provide all fingers print which can be taken by any police station/department. Download fingerprints FORM.
    • d) Passport Copy
    • e) Afghanistan visa copy.
    • f) Employment contract or Employment letter copy.
    • g) Proof of Address in Canada. An applicant should bring a copy of either his/her driver license, utility bill or bank statement in the postal package.
    Express/Registered self-addressed envelope. An Express/Registered self-addressed return envelope MUST be included in the postal package. Without this, the Embassy will NOT be able to send you back the results.
    h)Please provide tow photos,  2x2 size.

 fee and Method of payment

• All consular charges are only payable in USD. Payment in any other currency will NOT be accepted.
• All payments must cover the total amount that is payable to the general, including the relevant fee, bank charge and any postal cost, if applicable. The payment must be received by the Embassy together with your application form before any assessment take place.
• Payments in cash, personal cheque and money draft are NOT accepted under any circumstances.
• The only acceptable method of the payment is direct deposit to the Embassy Bank Account. Please download payment instruction form here.
• Please attached the original Bank printed receipt along with your application.

All applicants are, hereby, notified that they should make sure to have all required supporting documents available before depositing service fee to the Embassy’s bank account. The Embassy cannot return the service fee to the applicants, if their supporting documents are not complete, which in turn delays provision of the consular service to the applicants.
