Ambassador Soroosh Has a Phone Conversation with Director General of the South Asia Bureau at the Global Affairs Canada

Ambassador Hassan Soroosh had a phone conversation this afternoon with Mr. David Hartman, Director General of the South Asia Bureau at the Global Affairs Canada. The two sides discussed the Afghan peace process and the start of peace talks in Doha. They further discussed the key points of international consensus in support of the peace process including the need for a ceasefire, preservation of the gains of the past 19 years in Afghanistan including the Republic, democratic rights and national institutions as well as long-term partnership between Afghanistan and the international community.
 
Ambassador Soroosh extended his gratitude for Canada’s unwavering commitment and principled position in support of the peace process and long-term partnership with Afghanistan.
Mr. Christopher Gibbins, Executive Director for Afghanistan at the Global Affairs Canada; Mr. Sayed Mujtaba Ahmadi, Deputy Chief of Mission; and Mr. Azim Wardak, Economic Counselor from the Embassy of Afghanistan also attended the phone conversation.
